Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Honored as Boonville Chamber's "Business of the Month"-1/17/2018

By Robert Dolan The Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present their January "Business of the Month" Award to Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Inc. This award is presented to a Chamber member business that excels well in the area of community involvement, economic growth, customer service and professional relationships. As Boonville’s second largest employer, employing over 150 local community members, Sunset prides itself on giving back to the community that has been so gracious to them over the decades. From sponsoring local baseball teams, soccer leagues, holding benefits and raffles for community members and organizations in need, through those efforts the workforce of Sunset has raised over $7,000 for local community members . Their “jeans Friday” program for the Lewis County Humane Society, Go Red for Women and No Shave November for men are just a few prime examples. Sunset has been a major supporter in the Chamber of Commerce gift certificate program; purchasing gift certificates for employees as incentives and Christmas gifts throughout the years. Through those purchases, Sunset alone has given back $129,700 to local businesses through the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificate program. With this program, all the money stays local to increase revenue right here in the Boonville community. Sunset also provides events to make the local community a better place to live, work, and shop. The staff of Sunset focuses on involving the community in the programs they offer. Each month Sunset hosts Andy Longway and Friends for band night; every Thursday morning, sing along with the Adirondack Community Chorus; and monthly sip and paints with Uncork and Unwind Painting and Design. They also offer various religious services for community members to attend. Sunset aspires to engage the community through various programs, including their relationships with the Dodge-Pratt STEAM program, Adirondack and South Lewis Central schools, local children’s and local sports’ teams. Being able to serve the Boonville community for 70 years has been a privilege and honor for the Britton family. Sunset not only cares for the people they provide care for, but the community, as well. The partnerships that have been formed over the 70 years are a trusted testament that will always remain strong. Sunset has and will always continue to be “A Caring Community of Dedicated People.” *********************** Robert Dolan is an office assistant at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and is Sunset’s correspondent for the Boonville Herald.
