Elizabeth Pfendler (Kessler) Scott-1/17/2018

BOONVILLE - Elizabeth Pfendler (Kessler) Scott, 56, of Boonville, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, and supported by the wonderful staff of Hospice. Liz was born on June 2, 1961 in Constableville, NY, the daughter of Martin K. Pfendler and Margaret A. (Conway) Pfendler. She graduated from Adirondack Central School and Mohawk Valley Community College, where she received a degree in Graphic Arts and Advertising. She married Michael G. Kessler in 1988. Mr. Kessler passed away in 2001. She married her current husband, William N. Scott, in 2004. Liz was a program manager at Upstate Cerebral Palsy, Hurlbut Street IRA, a position in which she, as the leader of “one big family,” fostered a very special and extremely respectful relationship between residents and staff. Her passion and dedication made working at Hurlbut more like a home than a workplace. Liz is survived by her husband, Bill Scott; her mother, Margaret Pfendler; sisters, Kelly K. (Michael) Branigan and Kristin M. (Ron) Williamson; sister-in-law, Dawn M. (Andrew) Pfendler; a very special niece, Megan E. Pfendler; nephews, Matthew P. and Jeffrey M. Branigan, Luke Andrew Pfendler, and Andrew M. Williamson; and grandniece, Scarlet E. Galler. Liz was predeceased by her father, Martin, in 1987, and her beloved brother, Andrew Martin Pfendler, on June 6, 2017. Having no children of her own, she took a special interest in, and showed a loving devotion to her nieces and nephews. Liz was noted for her creative and artistic ability, and often, while watching the little ones, ran art and craft classes to teach and amuse them. Liz, in her own quiet way, and with her deeply loving, unselfish, and generous spirit, made all of our lives better. We will miss her teasing, her love of fun, her laugh, and the enjoyment she found in simple things. May our memories help soften the pain of our loss. Calling hours were Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. A celebration of Liz’s life will take place in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 or the Lewis County Humane Society, PO Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367.
