“Sheriff’s Community Coffee” Events Scheduled Thursday in Boonville and Foresetport-8/30/2017

Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol has announced the next in a series of “Sheriff’s Community Coffee” events will take place on Thursday, August 31 at Freddy’s Diner, 101 Ford Street, Boonville, at 9:30 a.m. and at Campbell’s Diner, 10208 State Route 28, Forestport, at 11 a.m. These unique events bring uniform Deputy Sheriffs and Correction Officers, and the community members they serve, together–over a cup of coffee–to discuss issues and learn more about each other. Sheriff Maciol said these events have no speeches or specific topics. “It’s just informal conversations with the members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement and Corrections Divisions about who they are, what they do, and what matters to community residents,” he said. “There are also no interruptions, such as radios, patrol cars and cell phones for a short period of time so that we can be more approachable and have relaxed conversations with those we serve and protect.” Most importantly, he said the “Sheriff’s Community Coffee” events are opportunities to build relationships in order to better problem solve with the people in the community.
